Badgers and their setts are protected by national legislation throughout Ireland and across Britain

Blackstaff Ecology has undertaken numerous badger surveys for a wide range of development types. Detailed surveys are used to inform the layout of a development or to produce a mitigation and compensation strategy where the layout cannot readily be altered.

Badger surveys involve searching for signs of badger activity including; setts, paths, latrines, footprints, snuffle holes, hair (often caught on wire fencing) and bedding material. All evidence is photographed and a GPS location recorded to allow for an appropriately scaled map to be produced and for inclusion in a confidential badger report.
